The fly fishing dory is a modification of a proven design. This boat was
originally designed for open ocean use. This boat started out as
a multiple-chined dory, the chines were" faired out" during the lofting
process. The result is a round- sided flat bottomed dory. For a big boat,
with 3 passengers, this dory is fast. I have rowed this boat with
6 passengers plus myself. For fly fishing I take 2 fisherman. There
is enough capacity to take 3 people, plus their gear for extended trips.
The width allows the use of standard length (9'9") oars. This dory uses
a Piantidosi sliding seat mechanism ( minus the outrigger arms), and oars.
